Languages Spoken: English & Bengali

Hi, my name is Shimul (she/her) and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I graduated with a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University with a specialization in Trauma and Spiritual/Depth Psychology. As a South Asian American immigrant who was born and raised in five countries over four continents before the age of 18, my passion lies in connecting with people from all backgrounds, diversities and intersections. I have always been curious about others and their lived experiences and empathize with the challenges of straddling two or more cultures.

I provide strengths-based, client-centered therapy through a trauma-informed, mindfulness, systemic and cultural lens. I work with individuals, couples, families, including adolescents and teens and celebrate, honor, and affirm the LGBTQIA+ community. I have worked in community mental health, domestic violence hotline and crisis shelters, dual diagnosis residential treatment, suicide crisis line and private practice.

Creating a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space where you can feel truly heard is at the heart of my work. I am passionate about guiding individuals who seek more clarity, meaning and genuine connection in their lives. Rumi, the poet, says “The wound is the place where the Light enters you.” Let us get started on your healing journey today.
