Lamont DuBose, MFT Trainee
Languages Spoken: English & Spanish
Good day, Open Path Community! My name is Lamont “Monty” DuBose and I am currently in my last year pursuing my Master’s in Counseling Psychology with the Southern California Seminary. I began my career in the field of mental health services as a Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist assisting individuals with varying ages, gender identities, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I maintain cultural humility in my work, remaining “other-oriented” as I embark on this lifelong journey of self-evaluation and examination of my own beliefs and cultural identities. I hope with my compassion and empathy we can begin the process of healing, addressing help-seekers’ needs, and working in collaboration.
I enjoy building my professional repertoire and have become certified as an alcohol and drug counselor, facilitating group therapy sessions to promote an environment conducive to client adjustment and transition to a healthier lifestyle without the use of alcohol or mind-altering substances. Using a strengths-based approach, I want to instill hope and support others as authentically as I can. I dedicate my practice to exploration and discovery, psychoeducation, and assisting those who wish to develop the necessary tools for the change they seek. I am a polyglot and available to consult help-seekers in Spanish.
