Hello! My name is Jocelyn Portocarrero and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee. I am currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at USC.

Being blessed to be the daughter of Guatemalan immigrant parents, my passion lies with being able to serve my Latinx community. With my parents being monolingual Spanish speakers, more than often as a child I was helping translate for them. Acknowledging that language can be a barrier to receiving services, I want to help eliminate it. I understand that there can be difficult conversations had in therapy and because of this I want you to feel comfortable knowing that you only have to tell me and not a translator.

My goal in therapy is to make you feel seen, heard and understood. I strongly believe that you are the expert in the room. I invite you to tell me your story and hardships, I am here to listen non judgmentally and support you through your healing process. Together we can help you become the most empowered version of yourself.

¡Hola! Me llamo Jocelyn Portocarrero y soy practicante de Terapia Matrimonial y Familiar. Actualmente estoy cursando una Maestría en Terapia Matrimonial y Familiar de USC.

Siendo bendecida ser hija de padres inmigrantes Guatemaltecos, mi pasión es servir a mi comunidad latina. Como mis padres sólo hablan español, de niña les ayudaba mucho a traducir. Reconociendo que el idioma puede ser una barrera para recibir servicios, quiero ayudar a eliminar esa barrera. Entiendo que puede haber conversaciones difíciles en terapia y, por eso, quiero que se sienta cómodo sabiendo que solo tienes que contarme a mí y no a un traductor.

Mi objetivo en terapia es que te sientas visto, escuchado y comprendido. Creo firmemente que tú eres la experta en la sala. Te invito a que me cuentes tu historia y tus dificultades. Estoy aquí para escucharte sin juzgarte y apoyarte en tu proceso de sanación. Juntos podemos ayudarte a convertirte en la versión más poderosa de ti misma.
