Train with Open Paths Counseling Center

Open Paths is a nonprofit counseling center and training agency that centers around the therapeutic needs of historically marginalized communities. We serve those who traditionally lack access due to financial, geographic, and/or cultural barriers. Your work with Open Paths will make a difference in their lives.

OPPORTUNITY

  • Work with clients of all ages and backgrounds, including children, couples, and families
  • Highly experienced supervisors with subject matter expertise
  • Triadic and group supervision opportunities
  • Variety of trainings from professionals in the field of psychology
  • Opportunity to participate with specialized groups and services (Intimate Partner Violence, unhoused populations, DCFS involved, justice involved)
  • Opportunity to train through an LGBTQI+ Affirmative and Multicultural lens
  • Opportunity to facilitate group therapy, including starting your own therapy group, with approval
  • Opportunity to provide School-based or community-based services

COMMITMENT

  • Be in alignment with Open Paths’ mission, vision and values
  • Commit to a 12-month contract (from start of provision of client services) for approximately 20 combined hours per week
    • You must be enrolled in your graduate practicum course for the duration of the contract. If your graduation falls before the 11th month, you are not eligible to apply.
  • Must complete a two-week orientation; the first week is in-person and the second week is virtual.
  • Must complete an initial 10 week Clinical Onboarding training with the clinical director in-person weekly for 2 hours
  • Commit to providing both in-person and virtual therapy (minimum commitment of 5 in person client hours)
  • Maintain a 10 client hour caseload after the first three months of contract
  • Attend weekly training from 1:00-3:00 pm every Thursday
  • Attend weekly group supervision (2 hour) and weekly individual/triadic supervision (1 hour)
  • Must currently be in your own personal psychotherapy
  • Must complete OP DV/IPV training
  • Must complete OP training in couples therapy before seeing couple clients
