Amara Clark, MFT Trainee
Languages Spoken: English
My name is Amara, and I am earning my Master’s in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy at Pepperdine University. In my experience as a peer mental health advocate, I have learned the importance of holding space for my clients and cultivating a compassionate and nonjudgmental space where my clients feel heard and understood.
From my experience, I understand there are barriers to accessing mental health support and mental health stigmas that prevent many clients from seeking help. So, my approach to therapy is through a compassionate, trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive, and LGBTQIA+ affirming lens. I want to help my clients find and utilize their inner strengths and resources to help address the problems they are facing. In doing so, I aim to help my clients become the best version of themselves and lead authentic lives.
