Hello! My name is Chiazam (Chi) Mbelu, and I’m currently pursuing my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology at National University. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology with a minor in Gender Studies from the University of California, Riverside, where I nurtured my curiosity about people, culture, and the many ways our identities shape how we move through the world.

As a first-generation Nigerian American, I understand the challenges that can arise when navigating multiple cultural identities, generational expectations, and the pressure to succeed while staying connected to one’s roots. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that everyone deserves a safe space to be fully seen and heard.

I am especially passionate about supporting children of immigrants and creating therapeutic spaces that feel safe, affirming, and culturally responsive. I aim to help clients explore their identities, process their emotions, and feel empowered in their own stories.

At Open Paths, I am committed to creating a therapeutic environment that is inclusive, affirming, and responsive to the unique needs of each client. I believe healing begins with connection, and I strive to meet every individual with empathy, curiosity, and respect.
