Brittany Sinkler, MFT Trainee
Languages Spoken: English
Hello!
My name is Brittany Sinkler (Breeze) and I am a 3rd year Master’s student from Cal State Dominguez Hills. During my time at CSUDH, I have been blessed to receive impeccable therapeutic training skills from a diverse team of experienced Marriage and Family Therapists. When it came time to choose a clinical training site to acquire licensure hours, I felt an immediate connection to Open Paths and felt aligned the moment I walked through the doors. I am absolutely ecstatic for the opportunity to spend my last year as a Marriage and Family Therapy Trainee at Open Paths.
I see my path to serving as a therapist as part of my dharma and it’s something I have truly embraced. I have personally been able to accomplish some of my own healing through receiving therapy and learning about what it means to just be human. My wish is to help as many people as possible throughout their own human journey, especially those who may have had less opportunity, knowledge, and resources to show up for themselves in the way they deserve.
When it comes to culture, I consider myself a worldly person. I grew up as an air force brat, which means, I grew up with a father who is now a veteran and lived in multiple places as a child, including Panama, Nebraska, England, and Arizona. In addition, I have lived and visited several countries such as Switzerland, Sweden, and Spain. I am multi-racial and come from a multi-cultural background that includes ancestral roots from the Native American Santee Tribe of South Carolina, African-American culture (father;Virgina), British culture (mother;heavy emphasis), and ancestral roots in West African countries like Nigeria and Caribbean islands like Jamaica.
My therapeutic experience includes working with children and families from underprivileged neighborhoods, facilitating a mama’s circle support group, parent coaching, and individual therapy using modalities derived from a whole person approach. I aspire to work more with couples in the future as I am absolutely obsessed with relationships and partnership.
Outside of serving the community through therapy, I love spending time with my daughter, roller blading, bike riding, reading (especially self help and astrology), traveling, and spending as much time in nature as possible.
