Gabriel Marks, MFT Trainee

Languages Spoken: English, Spanish, and French

My name is Gabe Marks and I am currently in my final year of Pepperdine University’s MFT clinical psychology program. Due to my own background and upbringing as an inner city Los Angeles Native, I am highly knowledgeable in regard to the social inequities of our society, and am currently focusing on the ways in which historical trauma in minority communities affect the family dynamic and thus the individual.

Given this focus on historical trauma and its results within the family and the individual, I tend to look at the individual from a bio-psyho-social perspective, wanting to understand the individual in terms of their position in society and the ways in which the person is shaped by their environment. From this perspective, I try to work from a more integrative approach, tailoring the methods of the therapeutic environment to each individual’s unique background and current situation.
